Legal Question in DUI Law in South Carolina

DUI victim

I have a question. A friend was killed by a drunk driver but we found out he (my friend) didn't have a valid license will this hurt our case against the drunk driver???

It shouldn't hurt the case. It would really be helpful for me if I knew exactly what happened. I practice in South Carolina and handled a Wrongful Death case a few years ago where the guy that was killed didn't have a drivers license and that didn't bar recovery.
