Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

over 1-year separation divorce

My husband and I have been living apart for over 3 years - I live in SC and he lives in the USVI. What is the easiet, fastest way to get a divorce, and can it be done if I can't find him?

Re: over 1-year separation divorce

The easiest way to get the divorce would be to file on the ground of one year separation here in SC with an agreement outlining how all of the financial issues are being handled. If you can't find him, it can still be done, but it will take longer and cost more because we'll have to serve him by publication in the newspaper.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
