Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Abandonment and Child Endagerment?

Is it legal for a mother to leave her 3 children, aged 17, 14 and 6 alone for 4 days while she travels from SC to Kentucky for a visit with her boyfriend? This seems wrong to me, not sure if I should call DSS or something.

Re: Abandonment and Child Endagerment?

A parent can leave her children alone with an appropriate supervisor. Whether a 17 year old is old enough to supervise a 14 and 6 year old is a close call, in my opinion. If you are legitimately concerned for the children's safety, then you have the option to call DSS and let them investigate. If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
