Re: alimony &childsupport

In SC, there are guidelines that determine a person's child support obligation. These are based on each of your gross incomes, the cost of health insurance coverage, the cost of child care, etc.

There are no such guidelines for alimony, and it is often much arder to predict the outcome on that issue. There are many factors that the Court must take into account with alimony cases.

You can visit DSS's website and use their online child support calculator to get an idea of what your husband's child support obligation may be. To do so, paste this address into your web browser: http://www.state.sc.us/dss/csed/calculator.htm

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
