Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Alimony payments
I was divorced in South Carolina after 20 yrs of marriage. I agreed to pay alimony for 10 yrs. I have paid now for 5 yrs.
Is it illegal for me to stop paying the alimony? Would I be in contempt of court? Would there be a warrent for my arrest? And what if I simply never returned to South Carolina? Would I have any legal problems here in Washington?

Re: Alimony payments
The South Carolina decree could be entered and enforced in Washington. I won't comment on South Carolina law, except to say that I expect that they have all the tools to enforce their orders that Washington does (contempt).
