Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Annulment in Catholic church

What is the point behind having your marriage annulled 23 years after your divorce? There are grown children involved, born within the marriage. Both parties were Protestant, ex-husband now says he is Catholic. He's been remarried for over 20 years, has no children with current wife. Ex-wife refuses to cooperate with archdiocese, sees no reason for the annulment. Their marriage was legal, they were of age, sober, aware of what they were doing. So why an annulment???

Re: Annulment in Catholic church

I would think that he wants to have his marriage to second wife recognized by the Catholic Church, which I believe can only happen after first marriage is annulled. People's religious beliefs are wide, varied, and difficult to explain/understand at times. Good luck.
