Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Can an attorney represent a couple who is in the middle of a DSS case that do not speak English. This attorney has never provided a spanish interpreter and the only information that they can understand is that from DSS who does speak to them with a spanish interpreter.
1 Answer from Attorneys
The Court will provide interpreters if the parties do not speak English. It may be possible for the attorney to have an interpreter present when meeting with the clients. However, there are many factors that you do not mention, including whether the attorney was appointed or privately retained.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
