Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
can i change my daughters last name even if the father disagrees? but he never sees her and hardly ever pays child support.
1 Answer from Attorneys
The father's consent is not required, as the decision is ultimately up to the Judge. If he disagrees, it will be more difficult, but his failure to visit or support the child will also be taken into consideration.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
