Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Am i able to change the locks on a home that my spouse and I shared?. the home is in her name but she moved out over nine months ago and left me stuck paying the mortgage along with other bills. I dont want her to be able to just walk in whenever she feels like it. neither one of us has actually filed for a divorce. I just need to know what my legal options are

From the limited information you provided, it sounds as though the home is marital property. As such, you both have equal rights to it. You can change the locks, and she can break a window to enter if she wishes to do so. The only way to get this resolved and to determine who can / cannot be in the house is to have the Family Court address it and issue an Order.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
