child abandament

We are foster parents and just received a 2 1/2 yr old girl her mom abandend her and tried ti commit suicide. Mom is illegally in this state baby was born here. Is there anything we can legally do to keep her?

Your best option at this point is to file a private custody action to try to get more long-term custody of the child as opposed to foster care placement.
