Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

child custody

I am a father of fraternal twins and my wife and I are getting divorced. All of this is very new to me. I have no money and am currently living with my parents. I currently have a low-paying job, from which I have given a substantial portion of my income to my soon-to-be-ex-wife's household. I am terrified that because of some of my shortcomings, that I will be denied joint legal custody and that I will never obtain the right to raise or even visit my children. Please, can you refer me to someone who might be able to give sound legal advice on child custody? Might I consult someone about the nature of the proceedings and what I have to do to maintain the right to raise my children?

Re: child custody

The Court disfavors joint custody unless both parents agree to it. Child custody cases are very complex, and it would be a disservice to you to attempt to give you any advice via this forum.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
