Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
child custody
I have sole custody of my 10 year old son. He has asked to say with his father next school year. If i let him does custody have to change and can i put conditions on his stay there?

Re: child custody
You can let the child stay with the father without changing custody. However, there is a certain logic to having the parent with whom the child lives be the one to have custody. Also, some school districts require that the person whose address is used for school registration have custody of the child. Joint custody may be worth looking into in this situation.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
