Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
child custody
my 17 year old daughter is having a baby in december. she wants to give me temporary custody until she is 21 years old so she can finish her education. can we have these papers drawn up ourselves and how can i make them legal? do i have to hire a lawyer for this? she is unmarried and still in high school.

Re: child custody
You can represent yourself in Family Court, just as you can in any court. However, it is certainly NOT a good idea to do so, particularly with an issue as important as child custody.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
