Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
If a child is taken from their parents because of abuse/neglect can a family member get custody of them instead of the child going into foster care?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It is possible for a relative to request placement instead of having the child go into foster care. The chances of that happening are greatly increased if the relatives are represented by an attorney, particularly by one that is used to handling cases involving D.S.S.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
