Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

child support

I have 2 children, one has reached the age of 18, and I have been paying child support on both of them. Now that the one has reached 18, do I need to hire another attorney to get the child support stopped on the one that is 18 or is there a form we can fill out and take in in order to save a lot of money???

Re: child support

Unless your support order provided for an automatic reduction when the first child is emancipated, which most don't do, you will need to bring an action to recalculate your child support obligation for the one remaining minor child.

You should consult an experienced family law attorney to discuss the specifics of filing such an action and to ensure that your child support is recalculated correctly.
