Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Can my children's father sign away his parental rights just to get out of paying child support?
1 Answer from Attorneys
No, the Court will not let someone terminate his parental rights just to get out of paying child support -- even if both parents agree that this should be done. The Court considers both parents' financial responsibilities to the child and takes them very seriously.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
