Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
I chose not to be represented by counsel during my divorce and felt competent reading and signing my divorce paperwork. It has now come to light that my ex's attorney left several pages out of my divorce degree under the section for Visitation & Restraining Orders. I am now seeing someone else and was confronted by my ex waving his highlighted section of the divorce order that we are both restrained from having someone of the opposite sex overnight while the children are in the home. His attorney tells me they will file this section with the court and I'm still legally bound to it. Is this true? Can I contest it because I was never given the opportunity to review it? And I certainly never signed that I agreed to it.

Without knowing more and seeing exactly what was filed with the Court, it's not possible to answer this question. Obviously, if you had been represented before this would not have happened, so hopefully you won't make that mistake again.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
