Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Custodial rights

I'm going through a divorce and have a 4 year old. My wife recently told me he may not be mine. I'm on the birth certificate and I'm the only father he's known. What are my rights?

Re: Custodial rights

You do have rights, but the type and how to assert them will depend upon several other facts in your case. For instance, if the child was born during your marriage, then you can take one approach. If the child turns out not to be your biological child, you can claim that you're the child's psychological parent and proceed that way. These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case. If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
