Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

custody forms

Is it possible to get joint custody forms that we can download from the internet that are legally recognized and viable for the state of SC without hiring a lawyer? If so, where can we obtain these forms. Thank you.

Re: custody forms

I am sure that there probably are people selling downloadable legal forms, but I would certainly caution you against using them for something as important as joint custody of a child. There are many different aspects of child custody that must be considered, and the money that you "save" now will likely cost you several times as much down the road trying to fix the problems that are virtually inevitable when trying to "do it yourself."

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case. If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
