custody

will the state of SC give a parent with a drug conviction and fleeing from the law custody of minor children?

Depending on all of the circumstances of the case, it is possible. Custody cases do not happen in a vacuum, so it is difficult to pull out one or two issues and focus on them while ignoring all the other factors involved.

For instance, if the drug conviction were a misdemeanor (such as simple possession) and it was years ago, it will be less relevant than if the parent were arrested yesterday for a more serious drug offense (such as trafficking). Same thing with the other offense you mentioned.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
