Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Deposition
I was sent papers from an attorney to attend a deposition to answer questions that will be used for court. What happens if I do not attend this deposition? It was not ordered by a court. I am not on trial. Can my childrens' fathers attorney make me answer questions at his office?

Re: Deposition
If you were issued a Subpoena to attend the deposition and you do not appear, you could find yourself in contempt of court. Subpoenas in SC carry similar weight to a Court order, and you will ignore it at your own peril.
If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
