Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Dismissing a Lawyer

I hired a lawyer in July 2006. I have had a bad time with this lawyer and filed a complaint. He says he can't talk to me until this complaint is resolved. Can I dismiss this lawyer while this complaint is pending and hire another lawyer and start all over again or do I have to wait until this complaint is resolved? Will I be able to get my files to start with another lawyer?

Re: Dismissing a Lawyer

If your attorney will not talk with you, then you probably need to release him/her and hire another attorney. I don't see how you could have any type of working relationship otherwise, even if you were happy with his/her services.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
