Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
? division of his state retirement disablity in dovorce?
He says that I am entitled to none of it . It is all his. He put all the car titles into our daughter's name. I am one of beneficiaries on the insurance at the moment (me & my daughter, yet I am sure he will put our daughter's name only on it soon. The home is in his & my name-thank goodness. I've made an appointment with a local divorce attorney. But, could he have confiscated everything from me by then?
Thanks

Re: ? division of his state retirement disablity in dovorce?
All assets accumulated during the marriage with marital funds are subject to being divided in the divorce. Of course, this includes not only retirement accounts and pensions, but also cash value of life insurance policies.
As for him trying to hide assets by titling them in the names of others, you may be able to undo some or all of that, but the sooner you act the better off you will be. Once you hire an attorney, he can help shield you from your husband's bullying tactics.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
