DNA Drug Testing

Can a hair sample be taken to find out if there are or were illegal drugs taken from an individual in a child custody battle, also one parent is bald, and the mother has long hair ??

The only test that I have seen is a urion test. As to the bald person, isn't it possible that this person has a hair somewhere else on their body? As to the mother, I am not a scientist or a doctor, but I don't think the length of the hair has anything to do with it.
