Can a Mother leave the state (SC) with a child without the Father having knowledge of their whaereabouts? Are there consequences?

Will there be consequences for a mother taking a child away from its father and refusing to let the father know where the child is? Unless the father simply does not care, there will certainly be repercussions for the mother's conduct, which could range from a contempt charge (if her move results in the father being denied his ordered visitation) to possibly even a change of custody to the father.
