Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Family law/military divorce
My bf of a yr is going through a divorce. He was in the process of getting separated when I met him when he was state side for a class for the military. when he returned to Italy they separated. I wasn't the cause of their separation nor divorce. However, when she emails him she threathens him with whatever she can as far as taking everything from him and keeping his kids away from him. He wasnt able to see his kids when he was where they live last year because she refused for him to have contact with them saying he gave up his rights when he talked to me. She has also threatened to file a lawsuit against me and and have me arrested for harassment. I have no contact with her nor do i plan on it or want to. What can I do to make her stop the slander and the threats against me that she is making to him and everyone else around her. She is always threatening me through him which she doesn't know that we still talk.

Re: Family law/military divorce
Your boyfriend needs to retain an experienced family law attorney to find out how he can best protect himself and his interests. He is entitled to a fair portion of the marital estate and also to see his children, unless she can prove that he poses some threat or danger to them.
As for you, she cannot sue you for any relationship with him, since SC no longer recognizes a civil cause of action for alienation of affection. As for having you arrested, she cannot do that without good cause for doing so.
