Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
I have a friend that is going through a divorce in south carolina. His wife has a lawyer and he has a lawyer. She kicked him out of there home, and put a restraining order against him while he was out of town, and asked for the divorce, he currently doesn't have access to any of his belongings. They have been to one court date, which was ruled for him to pay more than he makes, and still is not able to have access to his belongings. He only have access to one vehicle out of 3 that they own and one he bought before marriage. He has a second home that he purchased before marriage that she is renting, and don't have access to the rent payments on that home. She is asking for everything with accusations of infidelity, but no proof, even after hiring a private detective. She is asking for everything. He has offered half of everything. They have no children together or at all, and it does not seem that his lawyer is helping that much. What should he do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Without knowing more detail, it's hard to say what he should do. It may be a good idea for him to consult with another attorney to review the facts of his case and get a second opinion. It might well be that his current attorney is doing all that can be done, or it might be time to take a different approach with a different attorney.
