Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

gaining custody of adopted children taken by DSS

My 3 adopted grandchildren were

taken out of their home by DSS. I

have tried for 3 years to get custody

of them to no avail. Why can't I

even get a hearing on the matter in

South Carolina? I am financially

capable to raise these children.

Re: gaining custody of adopted children taken by DSS

Without knowing more information, it's hard to give you a definite answer. However, after dealing with DSS for many years and seeing all of their tactics to keep children away from their families, it sounds as though they are not giving you a hearing because you are not a party to the pending Court case.

There are things that you can do to force the issue and make DSS let the Court address the placement issue. However, to do so, you will be best served by having an attorney represent you who has a great deal of experience in dealing with DSS.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
