Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Grandparents financial rights
My son had a child at age 17 out of wedlock. He has never paid a penny towards the child care. He is now 20 and barely works. Can the law make him work and pay his share of child support. We have the child living in our home and mom does pay 1/2 the expenses. What can I do to make my son pay his share?

It is the law in South Carolina that parents of a child have an equal obligation of support. You may not force him to pay anything but there is a good chance he will have time to contemplate his obligation while serving jail time. It will take time and probably more than one hearing and more than one trip to jail but he should get the message. However, there seem to be people who just don't have any sense of responsibility. You need a Family Law attorney.
