Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Grandparent's Rights

My husband I have had a major falling out with his mother over some petty issues. The major problem is that she has anger management issues and looses control of her temper at nothing. We have a 7 month old daughter and my mother-in-law has threatened to take us to court for grandparent's right's. Because of her behavior, we have told her that she is not allowed around our baby. She has even went as far as making us give her back every gift she ever gave us and our baby but continues to insist that she has right's. Would this even be admissable in family court? If so, what terms of visitation would be allowed with a 7 month old? She has never spent more than 2 hours with her at a time, and has never been left alone with our baby because we never tursted her.

Re: Grandparent's Rights

It is very difficult for a grandparent to exert any rights to a child when the parents (who are fit) do not want that person involved with the child. Basically, based on the information you listed, she has very little chance of forcing the family court to grant her any visitation or contact with your child.
