Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Ex hiding money in child custody battle
My ex is hiding money in order to avoid what he should be paying in child support. Since our child was born, he has moved out of the country, purchased several properties to rent out (in which he claims he makes no profit from them because the rent he receives is less than the mortgage he pays on them), and he has the rest of his money hidden in offshore accounts. I cannot afford a private investigator (experienced in International cases), and my ex knows it. He has completely taken advantage of the legal system, knowing that no one will go out of their way to find out what his true assets are. Is there anything I can do about this? He is doing everything he can to take our child to the country that he's moved to, although he cannot take care of our child by himself--he relies on his mother and/or his fiancee to do the babysitting.

You didn't really ask a question. You seem to realize that in order to get to the bottom of the financial issues, you will probably need an experienced investigator and accountant to help sort through his finances.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
