Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Do I have to honor supervised visitations that were set-up between my ex-husband and my son's stepmom (my son has been in her temporary custody)? My ex is under investigation for child abuse. I was living in another state when the abuse happened, so I came back to SC to take care of my son. DSS is telling me I don't have rights because my ex lied and said I'd been gone 10 years. I've tried contacting local attorney's but none can see me until after the scheduled visit, which is in 48 hours. If I do take my son to see his father, can his father just walk away with him?

Without looking at the prior Orders and the documents filed by DSS, it's not possible to answer those questions in this forum. You should try to schedule an appointment with an attorney to sit down to review all the documents and to discuss your options.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.SpartanburgLawyers.com). I wish you the best of luck.
