Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

My husband and I are divorcing. We have self-filed. We are asking for 50/50 custody. Alternate weeks. My question is, Is there any chance that he will get custody due to my not having a job? I have been a housemom for my son's 18 months. Will they override our request and give him custody and me visitation because he has the job and home?

You would be well served to have representation in this matter, as it sounds as though either (a) you don't have an agreement on all issues or (b) you are concerned that you may not have an agreement. Issues, such as custody, are far too important to risk in an attempt to save a little money now, and it could end up costing you much more down the road.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case. If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.SpartanburgLawyers.com). I wish you the best of luck.
