Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

my husband of almost 20 years has been having an affiar. he doesn't want to work on our marriage, but hasn't filed any legal paperwork either. he is in the military and is preparing to deploy. would it be foolish to wait the deployment out before doing anything legal
