If land/home is in my name and purchased before the marriage,is my spouse entitled to it if a divorce is granted?

Re: land/home
This is a simple question with a complicated answer. If the home appreciated in value during the marriage and/or if a debt on it was paid down/off during the marriage, then she will likely be entitled to a portion of that portion. However, non-marital assets can become marital through "transmutation" depending on how they are treated during the marriage.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
