Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Lawyer Passed Away

My lawyer recently passed away. He filled the seperation paper and filled them through the court. Are these papers still good even though he has passed away.

Re: Lawyer Passed Away

I'm sorry that you had to experience the death of your attorney. You didn't give quite enough information, but I'll try to answer your question anyway...

If the agreement had already been filed with the Court, approved at a hearing, and an Order issued and signed by the Judge, then you have nothing to worry about as everything should be final.

However, if any of the above have not yet occurred, then you should consult an experienced family law attorney to discuss the status of your case and what additional steps still need to be completed. The answer will depend upon the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
