Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

lawyer will not help after being paid

I need to know what to do when you have paid an attorney for thier services, and was granted something in court, but the paperwork was drawed up incorrectly by the opposing side. Which is costing me about $450.00 a year. Now my attorney since he has been paid and the case to him is over will not do anything, nor will the oppsosing side who messed the paperwork up. What do I do now?

Re: lawyer will not help after being paid

If the terms of an Order were listed incorrectly, you only have a limited time in which to correct the mistake.

I suggest putting your concerns and your request in writing to your attorney and asking that he respond to you in writing by a specified date to explain what steps he is taking to correct the problem or his reasons for not doing so.

If you are not satisfied with your attorney's response, you should retain another attorney immediately to seek the appropriate relief from the Court.

You can visit our family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com) for more information.

Good luck,
