Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Help

i have been living with my grandmother for the past fifteen years. As I have gotten older, I have come to realize that it won't be long before it is time for me to move on with my life. As a result of this sudden realization I decided that I should try to build a relationship with my mother since we we haven't really been close. My solution to the problem was to I should be allowed to restart the visitation rights the court granted in 1987. In April of this year my grandmother (my legal guardian) and I got into a heated arguement (concerning my visiting my mother) and she gave me a choice, she either I could stay with her and not see my mom or either I could move out and never come back. So, I packed and moved with my mother. Two months later my grandmother snatches me out of my home and says that my staying there was illegal and that she could do time (be incarcerated) for allowing me to move. However, in the two months I was with my mother we became close and I was happy with her. I wanted to know if my grandmother can keep me from living with my mother even after she gave me the choice and I made the decision? Also, can she go to jail for allowing me to move?

Re: Help

how old are you? you need to read the court order that gave your grandmom custody. it can be found at the courthouse in the county where the case was held. have you asked your grandmom why she is against any visits with your mom? if the court ordered visitation then your mom has a right to visits with you in accord with the order. your mom may want to file for custody, which she is allowed to do.
