Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Marital Property

My husband's mother died and left her estate to him and his sister. As his wife, does his part of the estate become 'ours' as marital property. I want to make some decisions about the tenants renting the home and just want to know where I stand legally. Thanks you so much! Susan

Re: Marital Property

Inheritances are not automatically marital property. However, non-marital property can become marital depending on how it is treated.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
