Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
If I marry a registered sex offender can my ex-husband legally come and take my child?
1 Answer from Attorneys
If you choose to marry someone that is a registered sex offender, the other parent may certainly use that as a basis to seek custody of the children. Further, I think that the Court would have some concerns about leaving the children in the home with a registered sex offender, and it may prohibit the children from being around him/her at all.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
