Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
The mother of my bf's children signed over custody to the kids a year ago. now she is talking about she wants them back, but has provided nothing for them during their entire lifetime including the year that she has been gone. She jumped up and moved to Mississippi and only saw them maybe 4 times during the year she was gone. She did not have a job over there either. She does not have a job currently nor a place to stay. the kids are doing really well in school and we are trying to provide a stable home for them. what do we do?

If your boyfriend has legal custody, then he really doesn't need to do anything until and unless she files something to try to modify the custody. If he doesn't have legal custody, then he needs to file something a.s.a.p. to get it.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
