Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
I just want to move on with my life!
I have been married 5 years and separated for over 2 years. I have had a child with another man and I have a whole new life. I have been unable to get a divorce because my husband is nowhere to be found...I am almost positive he is in his home country, Turkey...what can I do?

If he cannot be located, then your husband can be served via publication. If he is outside of the U.S., the process can be slow, complicated, and expensive.
Also, since you had a child with someone else while you were still married, that child's father will need to be named as a party in your divorce so that paternity can be established, as the husband is the legal father of all children born during the marriage until the Court makes a finding to the contrary.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
