Is there a waiting period after getting married in the Navy before you can get a divorce? Ive heard you must wait 1 year after getting married in the navy before getting a divorce.

Re: Navy Divorce
Divorce laws are established by each state, not the Navy, and they can vary from state to state as to the length of time you must be separated before obtaining a divorce. In SC, you must live apart for one year before filing for a "no fault" divorce. There are other fault-based grounds that can result in the divorce being granted in less time.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
