Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
If the paying, noncustodial parent works in a state different the state the children live in, which state's laws do you go by when determining how much child support has to be paid?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Typically, the state in which the children live will be the state that has jurisdiction over the child support calculation issues, though there are exceptions to this general rule.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
