placing non paying child support ex husband in jail

My question is how can i get my ex husband who is in another state arrested and placed in jail for non child suport. He calls to harrass me and my child. I have full custody, and a court order already for SC state. I am active duty and stationed overseas in Guam. I am sick of dealing with this dead beat dad. Please help me.

You should contact the child support division of the Guam Attorney General's office. They can contact the AG in the state where the father resides and bring an action for child support.

Re: placing non paying child support ex husband in jail

You have several options available to you, but the most effective option is to pursue a contempt of court case against him in the state in which he currently resides.

If he is still in S.C., the process should be fairly straightforward. If he is in another state, then you will probably have to register the S.C. order there before you can seek to have that state's courts hear a contempt case, but the process is not very difficult.

It is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case. If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
