In order to transfer custody of a child to someone, there must be a Court Order issued. You need to consult with an attorney a.s.a.p. to discuss your situation, as you may face criminal charges and/or a D.S.S. action if you have drugs in your system when giving birth.
These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
