Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
Problem attorney
Is my attorney allowed to lie to me? I was told a hearing request for my case was filed with the court but when I called the court to check, 1.5 months later, I was told that no request was made. I am suspicious the attorney is prolonging my divorce.

Re: Problem attorney
In my view, you should call your current attorney and try to find out what the problem is/was. Maybe there was some problem with the mail. Don't just assume the attorney has lied. There could be other explanations.
Re: Problem attorney
The answer is a clear NO. Your attorney is certainly not allowed to lie to you. You should schedule a time to meet with your attorney as soon as possible and discuss this issue with him/her.
If you are not satisified with the outcome of that discussion, you may want to consider releasing that attorney and retaining another one that you can trust. Your case is too important to have questions such as this one.
