Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

property

I currently went through a nasty divorce. During the temporary hearing she was response for her own bills, she was awarded the the house and a car that was also in my name. She let the house (I even signed papers for her to sell this house to an investor) and the vehicle go back. I currently can not buy a house or anything because these things show up on my credit. Can I have these removed from my credit? What should I do?

Re: property

Typically, you cannot remove items from your credit if you were also obligated on them as well. However, many credit reporting agencies will allow you to submit an "explanation" about certain items, which may be of some benefit to you.

If your wife did not comply with the terms of the Order with regard to making the debt payments, you might want to consider bringing a contempt action against her. Doing so can help you recoup some of your losses due to her non-compliance and it will hold her accountable as well.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
