Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

My question concerns my sister, and the fact that she is ,I believe being abused by her husband. Her husband is constantly putting her down, as well as pushing, shoving, and hitting her. Also when she tried to leave he chased her down with his truck and held her down in the house so she could not leave, his words were he would kill her with his bare hands. She wants to get a divorce, but has no money. Can you advise me on the best route for her to take to acheive this. She lives in south carolina, and is not sure about the laws concerning these kinds of things. Thank you for your time.

Your sister can file for a divorce based on physical abuse, if she can prove it. If she has no money though, that will pose a problem for her. She may want to contact SC Center for Equal Justice to see if they can assist her.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.SpartanburgLawyers.com). I wish you the best of luck.
