Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

I have reason to believe that my soon-to-be ex-husband is listening in on or tapping my cell phone calls. Either that, or using my cell as a bug. I do not have anything to hide, but he has it in his head that I was cheating on him. Is what he doing legal? And if he does think that he has found something, would that even be admissable in court? He does not have a lawyer yet, so I know that it would not be backed by any law enforcement agency.

Secondly, he has told me that he has hacked into my email, myspace, and cell phone accounts. Is that legal either? Could I nail him for invasion of privacy? Or is it even worth it?

The answers to these questions will depend upon (a) whether he has actually done what you believe he did and (b) if you can prove it. If so, then he may have violated several state and/or federal laws, but this is a very complicated area of the law and not possible to discuss via email.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
